As a scientist, Professor Afaf El-Ansary

As a scientist, Professor Afaf El-Ansary began her research career at the national research centre. There, she developed an interest in doing studies on the prevention of bilharzia, which had previously been an issue for Egypt's public health. She recorded a patency on the control of bilharzia through the molluscan intermediate host. Since 2003, she was recruited as teaching staff in the Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Science, King Saud University. As a highly active researcher she has been a senior scientist at KSU's central laboratory since 2016.

In 2005-2006, she was named to the Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Eighth Edition. She is a member of several national and international associations, and she has served as a reviewer and editorial board member for a number of international journals.
During the last 15 years and after she lost her autistic child, she has focused on the screening of biochemical markers connected to autism, with a particular emphasis on the involvement of the gut-brain axis. Afaf El-Ansary has a large number of notable papers in high impact factor-peer reviewed scientific journals, and book chapters, demonstrating the innovation and high quality of her research. Her work has been acknowledged and quoted extensively by colleagues, proving its significance and impact in the scientific community.
Currently, she is the scientific consultant of the Autism Centre at Lotus Holistic Medical Centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE, as well as an active researcher at the Autism Research and Treatment Centre at King Saud University. She is the Scientific Committee Chair of Lotus Holistic Medical Center's Annual Autism Challenges and Solutions in 2023 and continues to be a driving force in developing the forthcoming autism conference in 2024. She communicates directly with parents and families of autistic children via online interacting simplified lectures (via Zoom).
As evidenced by the publishing of multiple highly cited publications with an average of more than 200 citations for some of them, Prof. El-Ansary is a recognized researcher. As a metric for evaluating an author's intellectual productivity and performance over time, she has an h index of 36.
